Brief, your daily catch-all

Brief, your daily catch-all

~3 min read

Brief is the chat thread you start your day in. It's pinned to the top of the sidebar (above Inbox, Leads, Deals, Buyers, Sellers, Recent), and it's where you ask the kind of questions that don't belong to any one deal or client. "What needs my attention today?" "Recap my deals." "Draft follow-ups for buyers I haven't talked to in a week." Brief answers those.

When you open Brief and the thread is empty (or it's been a while since you've been here), Closr shows a Welcome Card instead of a blank screen. It's a quick read on your day, plus three buttons that turn into chat prompts.

What the Welcome Card shows you

The card opens with a greeting (Good morning / Good afternoon / Good evening) and today's date. Below the greeting, you get up to three action tiles. Each tile reflects real numbers from your team, pulled from `/api/brief/welcome` when the page loads:

  • **Active leads to action.** Count of leads with status ACTIVE. Tap to jump to the Leads view of the pipeline.
  • **Deals needing attention.** Transactions with a closing date inside the next 7 days that aren't CLOSED or CANCELLED. Tap to jump to active deals.
  • **Unread messages.** Inbound activity (email, SMS, call) that you haven't opened yet. Tap to jump to Inbox.

Each tile previews up to 3 names or addresses. If there's nothing in a category (zero active leads, zero unread messages), that tile just doesn't render. You see only what's actually waiting on you.

Quick-action chips

Underneath the tiles, three chips put words in your mouth:

  • **Review today's leads**: "Walk me through my new leads and suggest next steps for each."
  • **Recap my deals**: "Give me a quick recap of every active deal: where each one stands and what's blocking it."
  • **Draft follow-ups**: "Draft follow-up messages to my buyers and sellers I haven't talked to in 7+ days."

Tap one and the prompt fires straight into the chat. You can edit before sending if you want to tweak the scope ("only my Toronto deals," "skip the ones in attorney review").

Unbound chats and auto-bind

The `+ New chat` button in the sidebar creates an **UNBOUND** chat in one click. No picker, no "which deal is this about?" question. You just start typing.

The chat stays UNBOUND until you give it context. The moment you do (@mention a contact, drop a PDF, or paste an address Closr recognizes) the thread **auto-binds** to that contact or deal. The thread slides out of Recent and into the right bucket (Leads, Deals, Buyers, Sellers) on the next sidebar refresh.

This is how Brief stays light. You don't have to know up front whether a thought belongs to 142 Eastern or to Sarah Jenkins. Start typing, and Closr files it where it belongs.

"What needs my attention today?"

The alpha invite mentions this one specifically. Type it into Brief (or anywhere else) and Closr scans your stalled leads, your replies waiting, your hot pipeline, and your closings inside the week. You get a one-screen brief, ranked by urgency, with the names attached.

Brief is also where you talk to Cody about the business itself, not a specific deal. "How's my pipeline?" "What's my expected commission this quarter?" "Who hasn't replied to me in two weeks?" Those answers all land here.
